About the Band
The Kevin Barry Pipes and Drums is based out of the Malden Irish American Club and can trace its roots back to 1921. Our band is currently a competing band in the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA) in the Grade V category. On top of competitions the band is also involved in many local parades and functions such as; the South Boston Saint Patrick’s Day parade, the UMASS Lowell graduation ceremonies, and many others. (See the Schedule of Events). The Kevin Barry Pipe Band is also a strong supporter of many local charities including CLASS.

Have you ever thought of joining a pipe band? If so the Kevin Barry Pipes and Drums is the perfect place to get lots of experience in the field of highland piping and drumming. For those with experience with highland piping and drumming the Kevin Barry Pipes & Drums is a great way to get to know more people who are involved in your local community. Those who are interested in joining but have no experience are also welcome to become a member. We offer quality instruction for those who seek to learn the art of highland piping and drumming. Q. Do you offer lessons to those who have no musical experience? A. Yes, we offer lessons to those with no experience. Altough it does help to have a background in music we are able and willing to help teach and guide new musicians. Q. Does the band perform? A. Yes, the band performs in a variety of events including parades and many charitable functions Q. Is the band involved in competition? A. Yes, the band is currently a Grade V competition band in the EUSPBA Q. What is the EUSPBA? A. The EUSPBA is the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association and is the governing body of all competitions in the region. Q. When does the band practice? A. The band practices every Tuesday at 7:30 at the Malden Irish American Club (117 West Street Malden) Q. Can I hire the band? A. Yes, you can hire anywhere from a solo piper to a full band for all occasions.
